Legal Theatre & Closing Ceremony AIKOLFEST ‘09

In order to be a lawyer /legal practitioner, there is no doubt that the legal knowledge is of utmost importance, but being trained in an Islamic environment, ethics, good akhlak and Islamic principle must come hand in hand. Its time that law students should realise that knowing the law is one thing but being as the ones who embrace justice, they must be prepared with the challenges in life. Some may think that applying the law in the society is easy as we read the law. But in reality it is not easy as we think.

In view of exposing the students of AIKOL in preparing themselves to face the challenging world of globalization, LAWSOC has proposed to organise a sub-programme called “Legal Theatre” that will include a legal theatre performance which will reflect the true life of a legal practitioner practicing law in the society.

Law Community Sports Carnival ‘09

Realizing that most of Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) students are not actively taking part in sports, Law Student Society (LAWSOC) had decided to take some initiative to include sports activities in AIKOL Festival 2009 (AF ’09). Apart from that, AIKOLians are not well exposed with other law school community. Hence, we are taking this opportunity to organize Law Community Sports Carnival 2009.

In line with a saying, “a healthy mind comes from a healthy body”, we would like to change the perspective that sports will degrade student’s academic excellence. We believe that “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy”. Thus, we strongly agree that sports will actually help in coping with the integration of law students from different universities.

Inter Law School Sports Carnival will be the finale for AIKOL Festival 2009. It is a half day programme which involves three events namely futsal, volleyball as well as netball. Students from other universities will also be a part of this programme.

It is our ardent hope and desire that this programme will achieve its objectives. We highly appreciate the cooperation and constant support given by AIKOL, IIUM staffs, advisors, committee members, and those who are involve directly or indirectly in giving their utmost support and commitment to ensure the smooth running of this program. May Allah SWT bless all of them with His Rahmah.
